    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Yes it was very informative and there was a number of presentations spread out over the period of two weeks. Most of the focus was on the division I was in, although there were a few firm wide Spring Intern events. Each presentation lasted about an hour and there was lots of time for people to ask questions.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued because the staff mentioned how they were very willing to talk to Spring Interns, which is very good.

    2/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Each Spring Intern was assigned a 'buddy' which is a great way to receive support informally. We were told we would receive more support if we interned next year during the Summer program, as we were told we would be able to receive support from a mentor and other staff members.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There weren't any workshops, only presentations and group project work. This meant that I was unable to build on any other skills which would be able to transferred to degree studies or any other parts of my life.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was decently structured which meant that the presentations were spread out, therefore it wasn't too much of an information overload. There were free blocks of time every day, usually around 11am - 1pm, in which we were expected to work on group projects, organise shadowing sessions, eat lunch or to network.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was quite alright, as staff members were quite talkative and open to questions. Most people were quite friendly and it is possible to schedule meetings, catch ups and lunch with members of the firm, so it is up to each individual to organise and network effectively to achieve individual goals.

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm was quite invested as they called in many speakers and it was possible to talk to a lot of people. In regards to development, the information allowed me to expand my knowledge so I could understand the functions, importance and overall role of Operations in the firm which was a learning experience.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It gave me an idea of the responsibilities and subdivisions.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I learnt a lot about the 'GS Culture'.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I was able to learn about the possibility of securing a summer internship if I completed the group project successfully, as well as how that internship could convert to a full time graduate role. Therefore, the programme let me understand more about Operations and its role in Goldman Sachs, as well as the finance industry.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Lunch was not provided on most days.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, we had email accounts set up.+

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were many opportunities to talk to employees in the division I interned in. This meant it was possible to schedule meetings and catch ups with them through the email accounts as well as instant messaging services. The firm encouraged us to do this so it was very common and acceptable to network often.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes they talked about the opportunities of networks, such as LGBT and black network.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes it was a great way to learn more about the culture and firm.
