The Role
The summer placement at PwC was a very valuable experience. Throughout my time here, I had the opportunity to develop new skills and work on meaningful and worthwhile projects. I found the work that I was doing was enjoyable and interesting and overall, I very much enjoyed my time at PwC.
On my first day at PwC, I was appointed a buddy, who took the time to introduce me to my team and show me around the office. My team took the time to explain projects to me and I felt the work that I was completing was valued by my team.
There is a great structure in place at the company that ensures that interns are well supported throughout the internship process. I was appointed a buddy on my first day, who answered all my initial questions, which was really beneficial as a new starter. Also my line manager provided with guidance and support throughout my time at PwC, focusing on both my personal and professional development.
This varied quite a lot throughout the internship. At the beginning of placement, my workload was quiet light as I was learning the processes and how the company works. As I became more knowledgeable and comfortable in my role, I was given more work and therefore, my days became busier. During quieter moments, I would use this time to network or complete my placement essay.
I was happy with the level of responsibility that I was given as it demonstrated that I was valued by my team. This responsibility steadily increased as I demonstrated my ability to the team. Being given a good level of responsibility meant that I was able to show my skills and knowledge to my line manager and put me in a better position of getting a job.
Whilst the projects that I was working on do not directly relate to my studies, I have learnt many new skills that will benefit me on my return to university. Such skills include time management and presentation skills. In addition to this, I developed many transferable skills that will benefit me in any future career I choose to pursue.
The Company
Really great atmosphere in the PwC offices! Whilst everyone maintained a professional outlook, I found employees to also be very sociable and everyone was up for having fun outside the office. There were many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, with many social events planned. This was a great way to get to know fellow team members and colleagues outside of the office.
The summer internship at PwC was really well organized. During the first week, we had a comprehensive induction, that prepared us well for beginning the placement. Being appointment a buddy was also really beneficial. Throughout the placement, we had a number of activities prepared, which were tailored at our personal development.
There was really no expense spared on this placement and it was clear how much PwC has invested in us. We had a number of activities organized throughout the placement that were tailored at our personal development and during the first week, we had an induction session that provided us with the training needed to succeed at PwC.

The future job prospects at PwC are very appealing and the graduate programme is very well regarded. From the start of the placement, it was made clear to us that if we worked hard and made a good impression on our team, then a job offer would be more than likely at the end. I found this to be true and I was offered a role at the end!
