The Role
The internship was a great learning experience. The ability to meet and interact with employees at all levels of the firm was great. The work i was given was fulfilling as i truly felt i was contributing to the team. Would recommend 100%.
I very much felt valued by the team i was working with. I was both given work that needed to be done (for clients/the desk) and knew i could ask for help whenever i needed to.
Support and guidance by both HR, the MDs and the desk captains was great. I was given guidance from the first day to the last. I knew i could always count on someone to give me constructive and straightforward feedback when needed.
There was always work to be done. I never felt bored and knew that there was always something to be done given the fast paced and exciting nature of the internship.
Once settled within the team the amount of responsibility given was quite good. The more work i accomplished the more responsibility and autonomy i was given for the next task.
The internship was without a doubt one of the best learning experiences i've had. Both in terms of what i have learnt academically that will help me with my degree and the professional skills that i've acquired that will help beyond my degree.
The Company
Serious when work needed to be done and fun when appropriate. Never a dull moment.
The internship was excellently put together. It really allows you to discover what desk/area you are interested as you are given a lot of freedom to move around.
Goldman Sachs invests heavily in the interns. Many social/networking events as well as classes at the beginning of the internship to get everyone up to speed. Furthermore there are many resources available to you during the internship (GS University, Reuters Eikon Platform for each intern).
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Very good prospects.
The Culture
All the interns got along well and socialized regularly outside of work.
Lived at home.
Bars, pubs very close to the office.
Many opportunities to get involved. We were given a week-day off from work to volunteer and help out the community.
