About You
Overall, the insight programme was thoroughly enjoyable. I came back from the experience feeling extremely inspired, not only by Teach First but by the other people on the programme too. Everyone I met was so hard working, passionate and friendly and I really enjoyed being around personalities you could bounce off. The first week involved lots of workshops and talks from various people which I found (mostly) very interesting and enjoyable and in the second week we got placed in different schools around the country. I enjoyed every minute of my school placement, helped significantly by the wonderful Teach First staff in the school who looked after us.
Teach First made us, as future STEM graduates, feel important and this made me realise how valued and important STEM subjects are. Being valued in this way helped me realise the responsibility I have to help spread my love for Science to the younger generation. During my school placement, I also felt extremely appreciated and was introduced to the 西瓜视频s in a very positive light.
The first week of training provided us with information about Teach First in general and the LDP, this was of particular interest to me as I had received a dual offer for the insight programme and the LDP and this helped me decide that I would accept my LDP offer. As well as this, the first week explained how to plan a lesson, how to behaviour manage and allowed a lot of time for self reflection and improvement. I felt as though this was a sufficient amount of support for the school placement in week 2. On a more personal level, Teach First were very understanding and supportive when my Grandad passed away over the weekend between week 1 and 2.
I have now accepted my LDP offer and the insight programme is definitely the best experience in preparation. I have now taught my first lesson to 30 year 8 pupils and having spoken to other teachers, it seems as though this is definitely the most daunting step and it is encouraging that it went well and I enjoyed it. The two weeks also taught me the self-analysis is critical in order to become better at something and that self-improvement is life long.
The Company
Very well structured, every minute of every day was planned.
Amazing, everyone was great and very happy to be there.
They gave us the opportunity to speak to several Ambassadors (people that have completed the LDP) and this was really useful and very honest. Everyone I spoke to gave me a realistic viewpoint on the LDP and how stressful and tiring it can be, but every single person I met said despite this it was one of the best and most rewarding this they had every done. This made me especially excited as I really enjoy a challenge, especially one with such a positive impact on society.
There were lots of speeches from the businesses Teach First is partnered with - this allowed those who didn't plan to stay in teaching long after the 2 year placement to see how well respected the LDP is and how it provides you with a skill set that is unique to any other graduate programme.
Everything Else
I was paid 拢500 for the 2 weeks.
Definitely and already have.
