    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The summer internship at GS London Office was very enjoyable, mostly due to helpful colleagues and well-structured internship programme with wide support network to guide you along the way. I was given meaningful tasks and felt that I was able to make an impact during my time at the firm.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues showed respect to my work and took into consideration my opinions in spite of having many years more of experience.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support network at GS was extremely efficient and always available. My closest colleagues were always willing to provide their help in spite of having a lot on their own to-d lists.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload fluctuated quite a bit during the summer. In spite of this, I felt that the balance was quite good, especially before market activity settled down in August.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given great degree of responsibility, especially during my first M&A rotation. I feel that I learned a lot by taking this responsibility and delivering to the best of my abilities.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that I have developed a plethora of meaningful skills during my time at the firm. Moreover, I do think that the experience helps a lot to better understand where my future career goals are, and perhaps even more importantly, how to develop the relevant skills that help me reach these goals both in terms of studies and future career choices.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere deferred quite a bit between my two rotations. During my first rotation in M&A group, the atmosphere was very collaborative, analytical and consensus-driven. In my second rotation in a financing group the atmosphere was more dynamic with several activities happening around me simultaneously. In general, I am very happy with the general atmosphere around the firm.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole programme was extremely well executed from beginning to end. All the programme-related activities felt meaningful and were put in place to support one's learning.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm is an extremely good place to develop one's skills. However, in order to reach this information, one has to be active in developing new relationships with different people within the firm and not merely wait the information to be given to you. All the official training sessions during the summer were extremely helpful and well prepared.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The firm is a very appealing employer and sets itself apart from competitors in so many positive ways in terms of culture and people.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The social scene was quite good. There could have been more organised intern events during the summer but apart from that there are little improvements that I could think of.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in London is high. It is quite challenging to socialize outside your work friends, unless you have studied or previously worked in the city.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London nightlife does not differ that much from other major European cities. You can always find something to do but in general, I would not say that it stands out from the pack.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Most of the activities were work related. The interns were invited to join in for Community Team Work day, which was extremely nice!
