The Role
Work was quite testing and the hours were long but there was good support from everyone in the company and I feel like I learned a lot
My colleagues worked well with me- I wasn't adding value to the team but they spent a lot of time with me and showed they were willing to invest in my growth
I was always able to get guidance from my mentors / HCM contacts when needed, this made the whole process a much easier experience
I always had projects or mini tasks to work on, as well as numerous meetings and events throughout the day- there was never a dull moment
Not a lot- as the placement was in trading I can't do anything until I don my FCA exams
I know going back to my final year I will be a lot more focused. The skills I have learned will definitely assist me when I hopefully return next year
The Company
This depends on the area- the programme is rotational and on some desks there was a much nicer atmosphere. This ultimately guided my decision on where I wanted to work
There were a lot of organised events which were very helpful but a lot of the placement was self-guided. This suited me but not everyone would have felt the same
People always took time to sit with me and teach me things even after having a long day themselves or when they were busy which was really appreciated.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Looking good but no formal offers until 2 weeks after the internship ends.
The Culture
Yes but we were also all very tired due to the long hours so socialising rarely lasted long.
Central London- High rent, high general cost of living
Central London has plenty of options
Not many as an intern but I think as a full time worker more become available
