The Role
The internship was more enjoyable than expected, although it was incredibly tough, the team was incredible and I enjoyed a lot of the work I did and found it super interesting.
This was a consequence of the importance of the work I did. All of the work was important and useful for my colleagues, and a lot of them showed their appreciation for the quality of my work and how much time it saved them.
There was constant support, any time I had questions people would be willing to help. The only issue was sometimes people were incredibly busy so support wasn't always quickly received, but this is understandable.
It was incredibly busy, but this is understandable. At times there were late nights but it's part and parcel of the job. It did mean you were really tired though.
As touched upon before, I was given a lot of responsibility, far more than I expected before starting the internship.
I learned so much on the internship, not as relevant for my degree but will certainly be useful for me job in future and just for general awareness of the financial markets and my own investments.
The Company
Other desks weren't as fun as mine, but my particular desk was very jovial a lot of the time with a lot of office banter and throwing balls around, it was a great environment to work in.
Incredibly well organised, can't think of any major flaws in the set up of the internship.
There wasn't much formal training, but that wasn't really useful anyway. There was a lot of investment in my development on the desk, especially certain individuals who took a lot of time out to teach me concepts and how to do things.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Healthcare/Dental
Very good prospects at the moment.
The Culture
Great bunch of interns, good social scene with numerous drinks with interns, sometimes was difficult to get people together but overall it was good.
Central London is hardly known for being cheap.
Again, central London has plenty of nightlife options.
Opportunities were available, but time wasn't really.
