About You
Goldman Sachs is and has always been my favourite firm and hence I had lot of expectations. Luckily, none of these lead to me being left disappointed. I had a great experience, learned a lot and made lots of new friends. I became hands-on insights into what it is like to be a financial analyst and this is exactly what I wanted!
I felt really valued overall. I was astonished about how much time people spent with us, considering their opportunity costs of doing that. My internship was inventively organised. Hence, I had a lot do to and learned a lot. Despite some exceptions, everybody was nice to me and eager to help.
During my internship, I received a lot of guidance. I had a lot of time to talk to my contact persons which would always be helpful and even provide more insights than required. I was allowed to approach high-level managers as well which is what I did on a regular basis in order to get personal questions answered.
I think one of the best thing about this insight at Goldman Sachs was all the transferable skills that I have gained as a result of all the networking event and activities. Skills like communication skills due to several presentation or my networking skills have improved significantly by talking to senior managers of Unilever.
The Company
The insight was very well structures. At first, me and the other interns were introduced everybody and the facilities were showed to us. Afterwards, we enjoyed regular sessions with our contact persons and various events were organised for the interns. Also within my project, my supervisor communicated clear expectations and goals.
I cannot speak about how the atmosphere is in comparison to other internships, but it was definitely an enjoyable experience. You can tell that the current employees who spoke to us loved their job and cherished being there. The other interns all came from different universities and it was a great opportunity to exchange.
The company has invested many resources in me and I can imagine that this was not very cheap. We got presentations about career opportunities, activities were designed to get a feel for the department you applied to, senior managers took their time to get to know you and so on. Hence, the company invested a lot and I am thankful for this opportunity.
It helped me a lot to decide about what I want to do later in life. I was very unsure about where life would take me but this internship gave me direction. I know now what it is like to work for a big company that is prestigious and all the benefits you鈥檒l get when you are an employee there.
The company culture is great and full of passion and motivation. It makes you better person and gives you an incentive to become better. Everyone is extremely talented and smart. But this is exactly the culture or environment you want to be. If you talk with employees or play close attention it will more than enough to gain an understanding of the culture.
Everything Else
This internship is a great opportunity for everybody and I would recommend it. I would recommend internships generally because it provides an insight into the industry and the company which no book or article could every do. But at the end of the day, it is what you make out of it.
