The Role
Amazing opportunity to work with very switched-on, competent individuals, in a healthy and friendly environment. Often work can be challenging (in a good way) - just make sure you apply to a division that suits your interests as the business has something for everyone.
The culture differs from division to division but mine certainly felt like a family. Also, it's great to build relationships with other work placements - possibly one of the highlights of the placement is the great work placements I've met.
Managers, mentors and buddies are really involved in your professional and personal development.
Depends on the time of year and what projects or service line you are on - however I found that I generally had quite a lot to do. Sometimes it gets really busy, and these times can be quite difficult to know how to prioritise.
After a while of working, you should have the opportunity to take ownership over projects etc. This is where the fun really starts and you get the opportunity to show how good you are. I would only wish I was given more opportunities to drive projects.
In terms of organisation, time management, written and verbal communication abilities, it will be invaluable for both my degree and career. The focus on personal branding and the amount I've learned professionally should help me for definite with whatever career path I choose.
The Company
Neither overly dull nor overly fun, it was a good balance of a professional environment, as well as having plenty of time to enjoy time together and chill out. A lot of citizenship events in certain divisions which make the atmosphere much more fun.
The firm has been doing this for years and knows what it is doing with placements and interns. My only request would be that the placements continue to get more of an involvement from a learning perspective from HCM as the summers do for the duration of their internship.
Plenty of training sessions in the first 10 weeks, and division specific ones throughout the year. Have not had the opportunity to begin a professional qualification, which I would have liked.

Very appealing within the organisation as there are so many opportunities to take advantage of.
The Culture
If you get involved early and go along to some of the firmwide affinity networks, it is easy to make good connections across the firm. I've had an incredible time socialising with so many of the work placements, and have definitely made some long-term friends for the future.
I lived at home, but obviously renting in central is ridiculously expensive. Socialising can also be quite pricey depending on what you do but very much worth it.
Some great bars and pubs to take advantage of, and easy to get to any clubs (it's central London... of course the night-life is decent)
So long as you can get your work done, there are amazing opportunities to get involved with all sorts of amazing activities, or attend talks from some very influential speakers.
