    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A placement at GS is a very enjoyable experience. Although the learning curve is steep there is a great support structure and you will learn something new every day. Placements are a very valuable part of every team and are treated just like graduates. Responsibility comes quickly and although it is sometimes intimidating GS will provide the right guidance to ensure you are reaching your potential.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Work placements are a extremely valuable part of every team in the organisation and are generally treated like full-team employees. You are never excluded and GS takes great care to ensure you are integrated into your team, division and the firm in general. Even the most senior GS managers recognise the value of work placements in the organisation,

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and guidance provided by GS is integral to your success and is extremely successful. Each team will have a formal onboarding plan for you to follow under the supervision of your day-to-day manager. In addition to this, other team members around the globe will spend time helping you with your work. The environment is very collaborative and you are encouraged to leverage your network to seek help with problems, In addition to a day-to-day manager your overall team manager will take a keen interest in your development, and senior managers in the division will ask for updates regularly. You will be assigned a mentor to guide you along your career development from an outside perspective. In addition to all of this you will be given a buddy who will often be an analyst who can help you from a junior perspective.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • GS is an extremely busy place and often work can pile up. Although sometimes this can result in late nights placements are not expected to work long hours so as long as this is raised to your manager then you should find a good balance with your work. Equally if you are underworked then raising this to your manager should fix this.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • GS is unusual in that it is prepared to put a huge amount of trust in it's placement 西瓜视频s. Placements are expected to perform at the level of full-time employees and this includes taking on the responsibilities that come with it. In my personal experience when your manager is happy with how you are handling your responsibilities then they will increase that as they see fit. By the end of your placement you should have a very large amount of responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills developed at GS will me in both my degree and beyond. Professional skills such as organisation and communication have gone from very poor to excellent, whilst other skills such as networking are new skills I have been able to pick up. Overall you will find this placement allows you to pick up and improve a number of key skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is generally busy with lots going on. There are always meetings and discussions going on. Although the atmosphere is professional and people get on with their work there is always plenty of chatting and laughter. People often bring in sweets or food to celebrate special occasions. Drinks after work are very common.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Extremely well organised with a clear structure and dedicated HR professionals managing the programme. Lots of learning opportunities and resources available. Dedicated social events for work placements funded by GS.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A huge amount of investment is made by GS in training work placements. Top of the range tools and training sessions are regularly made available, whilst full-time employees are given time off to produce and deliver training sessions.
