The Role
The people are the best thing about the job, however as expected the hours are long and the work can be tedious depending on the role you're in, get used to spending your days inside and only seeing sunlight when you nip out for 10 minutes for lunch.
Very much so, this is the point at which I think the firm does well, while due to some other interns mistakes you can't do certain things colleagues value your input.
To some extent, Goldman has quite a hands off management approach whereby they leave the individual to their own devices -this worked for me but may not for everyone.
As expected, very, while some days you barely have time to think, others may be more calm and collected depending on the ongoing of the day.
A lot, many ideas you're told you develop on your own and report back when you have more of an idea of what you think should happen.
I learnt some valuable excel skills and also general interpersonal and cultural skills.
The Company
Sometimes quiet and boring, everyone is busy so you can get quite bored if you don't have much going on.
Things were often left to the last minute and not much guidance was given at the beginning.
time was the main investment although i think there could've been more things organised and more regularly - post the summer there was little to no support

Depending on if you want a prestigious name where you're probably a number and a cog in a machine - GS is for you. - It isn't for me
The Culture
We were all very busy and worked late - but we tried to go for drinks as much as possible.
Goldman pays well so you never felt like you couldn't afford to do something - especially compared to other placementers.
Usually went out in Central - I mean it's London, obviously it's good
None - nada - nope. Unless you're into sports then there is like one team for a few sports.
