    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was thoroughly enjoyable, I was given the pleasure of meeting a diverse range of people from all different areas of the firm, who were all such genuine people who cared and wanted us to reach our full potential. If given the opportunity I would happily take up another internship, and or placement at the firm for free as the experience was so invaluable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The atmosphere of the firm was extremely inclusive, this made the interns feel like a valuable resource, as we were often given the opportunity to sit in on important meetings, where we could make notes and ask follow up questions to learn more about what it really entails to work in the legal department at Goldman Sachs.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The guidance and support provided by the staff in the legal department of the firm was second to none, Although the spring interns were paired with a 'buddy' who was supposed to mentor the intern during one of two week-long work placements in different departments of the legal division, the staff at all hierarchies of the department were extremely inclusive, and eager to assist and involve the interns in any way they could.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a Law with Business 西瓜视频 the experience of an in house legal role at this point at this point in my education was extremely invaluable. Being given the chance to not only observe how the legal department operates, but also the opportunity to see at first hand how the business and legal departments work hand in hand, and rely on each other to keep the efficient busy model running smoothly gave a stark contrast to a typical private practice legal internship.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The two week spring legal vacation placement was separated into two smaller week long 'placements' in two different areas of the firms legal division, this allowed the interns to get in-depth knowledge about two areas of the legal department, whilst also attending workshops, and sessions which gave insight into other business areas of the firm and legal departments, giving us the opportunity to get further knowledge on those areas should they spike our interests.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere during the two week internship was extremely pleasant, the majority of staff always made the time to assist the interns in any way they could. Or take a 20 minute break to get a coffee with us so that we could obtain catch up session or even an introduction if you wanted an insight into someone's roll in the firm. The staff were also keen to assist in our work and give us constructive feedback and excellent advice throughout the process.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The staff at Goldman Sachs were very interested in our training and personal development. Not only did they involve and observe how we could deal with some of their day to day tasks, but they also gave us tips on how to further succeed in our studies and career. In addition to this they gave invaluable insight into what best steps to take in building a working relationship with them, and discussed future opportunities both in and out of the firm,

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Whilst it's difficult to fully comprehend the complexity and magnitude of work the employees in the Goldman Sachs legal department complete on a weekly basis within a short period of two weeks, the element of comradery within the firm experienced whilst completing the internship helped give a really good understanding on how the firm operates. There is a very strong team-based culture and the interns are given the sense that every member of the team is just important as the other.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day was extremely useful in helping us decide whether an in house role was something we should consider as penultimate year 西瓜视频s. Being exposed to the culture of the firm inspired me to want to come back and work for Goldman Sachs again one day, hopefully on a summer internship programme, where I can further be exposed and properly integrated within the law department, and possibly obtain a full time legal analyst position giving me further invaluable experience before one day obtaining a training contract in private practice, an opportunity I was not aware of before undergoing the experience.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were paid for our time over the two weeks, and any expenses incurred in undertaking the spring internship programme were reimbursed for you, this includes: the cost of any flights, other travel expenses, such as train tickets. In addition to a hotel room in the city where you would be put up for the entirety of the work placement at the firms expense.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking and social events were well planned and thought out, with a range of networking events being put on throughout the two weeks, in which we were given the opportunity to get to know the other interns, as well as staff from all areas and divisions of the firm, The events involved a range of fun activities which encouraged the interns to get out and ask as many questions to as many different people as possible. Furthermore we were constantly encouraged to schedule meetings, and catch up sessions with the employees within our division, in addition to anyone who's department or job we were interested in, to ensure we made the most out of our time there, The staff were in fact so eager to assist and talk to us, that I scheduled numerous catch ups I didn't get the opportunity to complete the week following the end of my two week internship.
