    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was fantastic, great array of activities, work shadowing and interesting speakers made the two weeks highly enjoyable, talking to lots of like minded individuals also added to the enjoyment of the whole process. We were allowed a lot of free reign which added to the enjoyment, it really felt like an internship, as opposed to simply work experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The interns at Goldman Sachs are really valued, if you were ever in need of help, advice or even just a chat, I did not come across a single employee who was not more than happy to help. The free time outside scheduled activities meant that we could organise our own appointments/meetings with employees and everyone at what ever level would reply and help as best they could, I think it is the area that impressed me most over the whole two weeks!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Those running the event were always there to help us, whether that be if we were lost or advice and feedback we have throughout the two weeks. We had a lot of free time, which I really enjoyed, we were told that we should arrange meetings and find out about areas we were interested in, in our own time. So we weren't always told what to do exactly but that responsibility is something I and many other interns saw as an exciting prospect.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt an invaluable amount of information over the two weeks, far more than I ever expected to learn. Whatever division you choose to go into, you will come out at the end of the two weeks having a fantastic and in depth overview into that area, it will really help you decide which specific area of that division you want to eventually go into since you get an info session and a work shadowing opportunity in all areas.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The first week was more rigidly structured, which was a real benefit for when the interns were finding their feet. There were multiple information sessions, Managing director sessions, work shadowing and general talks on relevant areas to keep us busy. We had our own calendar which had our whole day mapped out so we knew exactly where and when we had to be throughout the day. The sessions started exactly on time and there were no hiccups throughout the whole event!

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere is another area which really took me by surprise throughout the two weeks. I expected a much more sterile and harsh atmosphere across the firm but it was very different. Everyone was extremely kind at all levels and always willing to help, the other interns were also great fun and relaxed which made it more of a teamwork atmosphere and not so much a competitive one. We had networking drinks at the beginning of the week which allowed everyone to get to know each other, I think this was a great idea !
