About You
The programme was certainly jam-packed but I really enjoyed my time at the company. The people are all very welcoming, staff and other interns alike. I really liked the firm culture and learnt a lot during my time there.
The flat hierarchy is definitely noticeable, and even senior members of staff are interested in what you have to say and answering your questions. You are given a lot of exposure to the firm and treated as an actual employee throughout your time, which makes it feel like they trust you and value your opinion throughout.
There is always someone available to answer your questions should you have any, and regular HR check up's were organised. In terms of the tasks set, that was certainly intended to be much more independent but people were willing to discuss your ideas and offer advice. We received training which was helpful although sometimes did feel like a lot to take in at once.
Having not done a finance-related degree a lot of the things we were learning about were completely new to me. What I learnt theory-wise will definitely be helpful in the future, if not for my degree but on the whole.
The Company
The programme is very structured, and most things are organised for you at the start. Towards the second half much more free time is allocated to you to manage for yourself and complete what needs to be done within your own time.
As I said, I really liked the friendly culture of the firm, which I had not expected. I felt the people in my division were supportive and it did not feel too competitive, which I thought would be the case. Whilst a lot is expected of interns they are also very much valued within the firm and I felt comfortable to ask any questions I wanted to.
There was plenty of training and activities which developed key skills we would require in the role. I certainly learnt a lot and a lot was organised for our benefit, however they are also setting up activities as a way of assessing the skills you already have.
I very much feel like you were treated as if it was your job, as we were given a desk to sit at for the week, access cards and logins to be able to use all of the systems. The work day had a similar structure to what you could expect within the firm and we were introduced to lots of different roles we could be involved in as part of the department.
We had a lot of exposure to the culture by listening to many people speak about their experience with the firm. As I said it is very flats and a lot of emphasis was put on collaboration.
The 2 week programme is definitely a bonus here, because you get a lot of experience and a genuine feel of what the job would be like.
Everything Else
Yes, networking events were organised officially, which allowed you to meet people from the firm. However since your desk is on a floor I found this was a better way to meet people.
The networking events were well organised and there was food and drink provided, however I do think there often felt like there was not enough people from the firm to network with as a ratio to 西瓜视频s. It might have been nice to have more evening ones outside of the firm to get to know people better
We learnt about schemes for charity work and how this is supported and talking to anyone they would be happy to talk to you about that.
I would definitely recommend this insight if they were interested in the business area because it was extremely good experience.
