    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a very comprehensive experience, ensuring that interns were exposed to as much of the company as possible. Interns were also given the freedom to learn more about aspects of the company that interested them by scheduling time with appropriate staff. It gives you a full insight into what working life in a corporate bank will be like.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Most if not all employees were aware that we were interning in the company for that 2 week period. Based on this, they were always friendly to help if needed and welcome to discussions (although should schedule beforehand). We felt apart of the company as we were exposed to as much as possible.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • If we had projects or work to complete, there were a lot of resources or people we could talk to. This could either be by talking to our recruiter or other employees available.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Time management is a key skill to take away from the internship. It is echoed throughout the company how important time is, and along with that, you should respect other people's time.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was packed with a lot of information. Although it is one of the longest insights within the finance industry, it still didn't feel like enough to learn everything. That being said, I've taken away a lot of information on banks that I previously did not know therefore the scheduling did a great job to ensure interns learnt a lot.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was very corporate but also a welcoming culture. Networking is very important within Goldman Sachs therefore people are always willing to talk and catch up with one another.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company ensured to invest in our mind as well as physical health. They encouraged looking after yourself while maintaining a good worklife balance. The company is aware of varied backgrounds and experiences therefore puts emphasis on providing training and support where appropriate.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I became aware of the kind of hours I would work, the kind of work I would do by shadowing different units within the company, and more. For 2 weeks we basically experinced aspects of the lives full time employees.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Goldman Sachs is very passionate about company culture, especially seeing as its size may not be as big as some of its competitors - however that is not an issue! The company encourages networks and helps minority's find a place through various affinity networks available. There are many schemes/activities in place to support the life of employees.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The experience has made me consider a lot on whether a future in the financial industry is where I can see myself going.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were so many opportunities that were presented to interns. And if those were enough, you had thto freedom to schedule your own meetings with individuals.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Very helpful, and the people you met always encouraged you to keep in touch or schedule a meeting with them. This made me feel very welcome.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There are initiatives that the company does e.g. 1000 women, however within employees themselves I did not come across too many that take place outside of work. Possibly scheduling with your coworkers yourself to meet up outside of work.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
