About You
I really enjoyed it. I learnt a lot about my chosen division and I had a really great opportunity to speak to people at the firm and gain insight into what they do on a daily basis. Further to that, I got to glean more about the culture of the firm and how they operate.
I genuinely felt like the firm was very keen to show us the importance that they place on interns and recruiting new people. They gave us the opportunity to feel relaxed and ask a lot of questions. As a result of this, I felt like I was valued and as though the staff really wanted to feel secure at the firm.
We had a lot of opportunities to shadow people and speak to the staff about what they do on a day to day basis. Additionally, HR was always there to lend support and advice if we ever needed it. On the whole, it was a very open atmosphere and I didn't feel isolated at all.
I feel that the internship taught be a lot about teamwork and how to cooperate effectively with others in groups. Particularly, I learnt that although there may be a diverse range of thought in a group, it is always possible to turn that into an asset if one is willing to communicate with and learn from others.
The Company
I thought it was very well constructed. We had a number of talks and those gave good insight into what the different people did in the bank, such that by time we went for our shadowing sessions we already had an idea of what people did and could think of the best questions to ask them that would really help further our knowledge.
It was a really great atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. Everyone was also busy and being as efficient as possible so that we could make the most out of the internship opportunity. This was both the staff and interns alike, and I really believe that the collegiate culture of the firm really showed during my time there.
I feel that the firm invested a lot in all of the spring interns. We had shadow sessions that were compulsory but there was also a lot of scope for us to pursue people and ask for extra sessions so that we could learn more and really develop the skills needed for the jobs.
I think that they did so to a good extent. We had projects and other activities that mimicked some aspects of what life at the firm would really be like, but we didn't do hands on real work as we were just spring interns.
The insight was extremely helpful in helping me understand the culture of the firm. Interns have a great opportunity to interact with various members of the firm on a daily basis and understand what working at the firm is like for them. Additionally, there were a number of networking sessions that allowed us to speak to people and hear more about the collegiate atmosphere of the firm.
It was incredibly valuable; having the opportunity to spend 2 weeks in a firm and really immerse myself in the environment gave me a better understanding of what work would be like; it also allowed me decide what divisions I felt I would be best suited to and what kind of work in general I would like to do.
Everything Else
Yes, there were several opportunities.
They were really enjoyable. All of the people present were very kind, and willing to answer any questions. They also had no problem with giving out their names/ email addresses so that interns could contact them if they wanted to schedule one-on-one sessions with them
Employees spoke about different activities that they get involved in, be it charity, sports, music, etc.
