About You
I really enjoyed the program a lot. It was really interesting to meet so many people with completely different backgrounds. Especially the Buddie program was a nice and comfortable experience. Due to the technical case studies I learned a lot about the work analysts actually do.
I felt valued in almost every situation. People were really helpful even though they were busy with their work. If I asked for advice or help there was always somebody around.
HCM did a really good job with the guidance. They had an eye on everybody's schedule, organized events with our buddies and female VP sponsors.
in my opinion the case studies were really helpful. In my university we had a little bit of accounting so far but the transfer of knowledge really approved during the case studies. Now I feel that I'm way better prepared for my next internship.
The Company
I think it was really well structured. I liked that we first had the workshop about valuation and accounting and afterwards the M&A case study. The only think I would have found really helpful would be another workshop before the EFG case study.
In the beginning I thought the atmosphere would be really competitive, but I was positively surprised by how helpful everyone was. I noticed that all the spring interns really wanted to get to know each other and I actually became friends with a lot of the interns. Even in stressful situations, right before submitting the case study my team was really supportive. I enjoyed it a lot!
They gave us the chance to receive a lot of personal training. Either with our buddies or the female VP's. Furthermore, the analysts and associates dropping in during our case study preparation were really helpful and provided us with a personal technical training.
In my opinion the program was really helpful to receive a real insight into the company. Of course this insight will be more detailed during the summer internship, but considering that we only had two weeks it provided my with a good insight into IBD and especially M&A. I definitely think Goldman should keep the spring insight program at two weeks, since one week wouldn't be enough.
I experienced the culture of Goldman Sachs as a really helpful and respectful one. Every person I met was really open minded and willing to help. Considering that we only had two weeks at the firm, I think I received a good understanding of the firms culture.
From my point of view the program provided a great insight, I really enjoyed the work we did. Now I know that I can definitely imagine to work in IBD, since I find the work and the topics in general really interesting. Especially the case studies helped me to understand what an analysts is doing. I'm definitely going to apply for more internships in the IBD devision.
Everything Else
Everything went really well. I got paid and received reimbursement for travel expenses.
Yes, plenty of networking opportunities. VP circles as well as MD circles and meetings with our female VP>
They were really helpful. One was able to ask lot of questions and receive great answers.
Yes, like the group Women in IBD and also gym session.
I would highly recommend it to a friend who is interested in IBD.
