    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • A good mix of learning about the technical aspects of the job and meeting people/networking. The technical bits were very interesting, I think everyone learned something new, and there was a good insight across different groups. Meeting people was also very enjoyable, everyone was extremely friendly

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt far more valued than I had expected to - we were treated almost like real employees, given passes and emails, and able to network freely

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • No individual feedback/guidance, but every person was assigned a buddy which was extremely helpful, and lots of soft skills guidance talks

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills not very relevant to my degree studies, but that is a personal circumstance. Skills developed will be very relevant in any future career, and was a very useful first taste of/ introduction to many professional skills I had never developed before, such as networking

    4/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Well structured -a good mix of passive and active - so talks but also interactive case studies and group presentations. There was also a good balance of talks to free time to work on project/network

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Atmosphere among interns generally extremely friendly and sociable, though also competitive

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • All the Goldman people including senior staff seemed genuinely interested to meet and educate us; had looked over our CVs in advance and knew our backgrounds

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • In some ways was a good insight - getting own emails and setting own meetups etc, but lack of real work shadowing on the desk made it a poor insight into the actual job

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Again, lots of talks on culture, and everyone we met was extremely helpful, but lack of desk time / time spent in real office environment hindered this

    3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Aside from lack of real work shadowing, extremely helpful - also as placement was 2 weeks (so longer than most spring insights), got a more accurate feel for what it would be like to come here daily as ajob

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Paid and reimbursed adequately, also extremely convenient and comfortable accomodation provided, which made a big difference to a lot of people

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Strongly encouraged to network, and when people were emailed, most were extremely responsive and willing to meet, even senior staff. Dedicated sessions to meet MDs also set up

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Networking events were varied and extremely enjoyable - some firmwide, some division specific, some with senior members of the firm, and also different settings (Roundtable / afternoon tea/ lunch etc).

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes - affinity networks, and dedicated talks on volunteering opportunities, and taster gym sessions

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Would absolutely reccomend - extremely enjoyable, you meet so many interesting people, and they really do want to get to know you and invest in you

    5/5
