About You
Incredible people, challenging environment which you are facing, always pushing you to your limits, which makes it great to grow as a person. This place literally kept me curious day in and day out, The insight itself was very well structured, we honestly went through way more I expected we would in two weeks. Great networking opportunities as well.
Most of the time I felt valued, most people realise their time is worth investing in the potential future of the firm. Of course, there were a few exceptions, so making sure you get the interns in touch with the right people would be a real game changer.
I am gonna keep this rating at 5, not because it was bad, but because there was a nice balance between the support we got and us having to figure out by ourselves what to do. Too much of one or another would have been bad, in this case I found there was a nice equilibrium.
The stuff I learnt will definitely help if I take finance courses further in my studies, however, I think I developed more that will help me outside of school. Learnt about myself, my limits, and how to deal with people, which will serve me far beyond school boundaries.
The Company
The insight was honestly well structured, we had to manage our time around it, which was challenging but never impossible.
It was amazing, I probably made friends for life during my two weeks, people were not at all competitive in a bad way at each other, so only positive here.
- Most of the people were taking the time to teach us, which is a good thing. - It was a challenging environment, and as a consequence, the firm was indirectly pushing me to develop and learn more. So the atmosphere and the work environment really favored my training and development. - Time is probably what you have that is most precious at Goldman, however, I think most people were keen on giving some of theirs away for us.
All the jobs in the securities division at Goldman have a similar general day-to-day routine and these two weeks definitely help you see from an insider point of view what a full-time role would look like generally speaking. However, there are so many different desks you can work for at Goldman, and they all have specific habits, so you would need to spend more time at particular desks to really know what a full-time role would look like at a specific desk. But I guess that is the purpose of the summer internship!
- To be honest it helped a lot and allowed me to get rid of a lot of clich茅s and stereotypes you can hear about Goldman as an outsider. - There was a good mix of presentations about the company's culture and principles and us figuring it out by ourselves as we were going through the desks and getting to know people, and how they saw their job at Goldman.
- Very very valuable. People really tried to make us go through what it would be like working at GS. The projects helped us realise what people at GS deal with on a day-to-day basis. Basically, the internship felt like a mini-job experience, so if one would not have liked it, he would have known that the industry or at least the division was not suited to him.
Everything Else
Completely transparent and correct, nothing more to say!
The internship felt like a two-week networking event. We were constantly given opportunities, if not excuses to go up to people and speak to them. The quizzes, the projects, the buddy and mentor systems, the desk rotations everything was designed so that we could spend as much time as possible getting to know people and making contacts. Priceless.
- Usually very good, organised in a way that the atmosphere was professional but relaxed, a good blend. - I had subscribed to a list for networking/social events the first day, however never heard anything back from that group of people.
Mainly about the opportunities to do sports and I think there was some possibilities to volunteer as well, I think this could have been explained more in details.
Absolutely, it was a great experience, I met great people, probably made friends for life. The possibilities to network, which are extremely important, were excellent. The firm provided with a great atmosphere, I was challenged day in and day out. The employees were dedicated and friendly for the major part. I learned a lot about myself as well. Great experience.
