    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found it quite enjoyable since there were many opportunities for questions to be asked and senior workers were on hand to talk to us and advise us. There was also a tour of the site, which proved interesting and allowed lots of information to be learnt quickly and a general overview of the culture and attitude at the company to be obtained.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued during my time at the company since I had the opportunity to interact with many more senior people within the firm. The firm also took an active interest in Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs time at university and any co-curricular activities they may participate in and seemed genuinely keen to answer all questions.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The day was well structures and timetable was shown to us upon arrival. All events ran on time and seemed to have been allowed an appropriate amount of time. The only disadvantage was that the networking lunch seemed a little rushed. However, the rest of the day ran smoothly and had clearly been thought through to make it worthwhile.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and many employees seemed to genuinely want to talk to us about their experiences. The day felt quite relaxed on the whole with a small formal interview at the end of the day. The atmosphere was also helped by many ice breaking events between the Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs there that were organised by the firm.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm clearly invested a lot of time and effort in organising this event and allowed us to disrupt employees schedules to ask questions. The firm also invested in providing a large number of Human Resources recruiters to provide us with a mock interview and to aid us with the application process.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • BP organised talks from 3 different people about their graduate scheme and allowed a current internship Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ to talk to us at length about the firm. Topics talked about included working hours, salary, working culture and promotion opportunities. This allowed a good overview of what working for BP would be like.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This day was very valuable in helping me decide as I was able to see what day to day life at BP would be like. It was also helpful since I could learn more about career progression and additional training I would receive while working at BP. Because of this the content was very useful.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • BP agreed to reimburse all travel expenses for standard class transport to and from the event. An expense form had to be completed after attending the day and all travel had to be booked within 48 hours of being invited to the event to comply with their travel expenses policy, this fact however is not very clearly stated.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was a large networking lunch at the insight day. Employees of a variety of ages and positions were present and were all keen to answer questions and help us understand the working culture at BP. However it should be noted that the lunch was a little rushed and so networking opportunities were limited by time.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Yes

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Employees regularly mentioned many societies about anti-discrimination that were available. Employees also talked about sporting opportunities with the firm. However the main focus seemed to be on us so although we were told these activities existed they were never talked about in much detail. If you had asked at the networking lunch I'm sure they would have told you more.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would certainly recommend this insight since parts of the day including the site tour are genuinely interesting. I would also recommend this day since the employees were very open and honest about the company. This day is also worthwhile due to the interview practice at the end and due to the application tips and advice from the recruitment team.
