About You
I enjoyed the insight very much; I learned a lot about the company and the industry overall, and met so many nice people. I found the presentations and workshops very informative and insightful - also meeting current analyst, associates, VPs and MDs was amazing. The group case study done during the week taught me about the nature of the job itself and I found it really useful.
I felt being very valued during the week; all the people I met, from the other interns to HR and the company employees, were very respective and helpful towards me. J.P.Morgan had done amazing job in organising all the accommodation, social events and traveling arrangements, which made it very easy for me to focus solely on learning about the job and networking.
The guidance I received during the week was really helpful; all my questions were answered and in many cases I got even more advice than I could have thought for. The mentor in our case study was very nice and supportive, helping in analysing our results and formulating the presentation. Also the HR was really supportive and always guided me if I didn't know where to go next etc.
The skills I learned were very valuable and will definitely help me in great extent in the future. From calculations to networking and presentation skills as well as gaining overall insight about the whole industry is highly relevant to my degree and future employment, and will hence help me to achieve better results.
The Company
The insight was very well structured; we had a clear timetable for every day which included both presentations and workshops & time for doing the case studies and networking. I think the days were not too exhausting but balanced with various different activities which made the schedule very enjoyable for me.
I think the general atmosphere at the insight was amazing; all the people were so passionate, friendly and supportive. The group works were great, I enjoyed the socials and networking, and overall meeting all these people was super great. Everyone was very motivated and willing to share their help and knowledge to others when needed.
The company had various workshops and presentations during the week that included many personal training sessions. The company had invested significantly in these events as well as in the networking possibilities and in bringing interns from many different countries. This was very great as it showed that J.P.Morgan really wanted me there and they highly respected me.
We had many different presentations that gave me an idea of the different sectors of the investment bank. Also when talking to current employees I could ask more specific questions about their daily work life. The group case study was also based in real events and hence was valuable in giving insight about the actual job.
The company culture was present in every presentations during the week and all the employees emphasised it very highly; I could see that it is very important for them. Also the overall structure of the spring week and the management of the organisation was based on the company's openness culture and reflected it in a clear way.
The content of the week was very helpful in giving me an idea that I really want to work as an investment banker. Also after gaining more insight about the different sections in the bank I believe I know better which would suit for my personality and interests. Overall I think the presentations and the case study were very useful in this process.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for my flight from Finland, accommodation for the week, traveling in London and all the food. We had breakfast every morning, lunch, afternoon tea and two social events at nearby bars. The accommodation was very nice and extremely close to the dlr station, which was great.
There were many networking opportunities with the other interns but not that many with the current employees. We were not allowed to do any work shadowing but could talk to the employees at afternoon teas or during the case study process. Also questions could be asked during the presentations. If the workers had joined in the social events, that would have been great.
The networking opportunities were really nice; I enjoyed the afternoon teas in which the atmosphere was really relaxed and you could easily access the employees and ask questions about their career and daily life. Also the social events with the other interns at the bars were very well organised and had a nice atmosphere and good service.
Well I found out something about the activities that employees can get involved in outside work but not that extensively as from what is their work like. I think if the workers had joined in the evening social events it would have been easier to ask more these kind of questions than in the formal settings. However, overall I was satisfied with the information I got.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend; I think it was very well organised and had various different activities that were really helpful for myself. The overall atmosphere and the culture at the firm were really great, and I enjoyed meeting all the people and learning more about the industry.
