The Role
I had a fantastic time on my placement. I was allowed an opportunity to discover all areas of E.ON and found that all my colleagues were extremely supportive and friendly. I was tasked with large projects and permitted a great deal of autonomy an trust from day one.
I was surprised at how much I was utilised and consulted with by the colleagues in my team. Despite being significantly less experienced than all of them I was often aske for advice and given important tasks or projects.
I could not have been happier with my manager. Every week we had a 30 minute catch up to see how things were going and quarterly we reviewed previously set objectives and targets to identify weaknesses and strengths. I always knew I could approach him if need be.
This differed depending upon the requirements at the time. Whilst there were always things to be done, the deadlines were sometimes further away. This allowed me time to ensure my work was of a very high quality and also get involved with other beneficial activities. Other times throughout the year, however, were extremely busy which I enjoyed equally.
This was one aspect of the placement that I was delighted with. I was tasked with delivering workloads and frameworks with significant cost implications as well as being heavily involved in creating and delivering workshops and training to senior stakeholders. The amount of responsibility for an undergraduate is fantastic.
The structure of the working environment will be beneficial, as well as the improved ability to critically analyse and information receive constructive feedback. I also believe that the greatest benefit will be the ability to understand a large organisations culture and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders within it.
The Company
Generally positive. Everyone in the team got on well and were very supportive of one another. Due to significant organisational changes, however, some of my colleagues often felt quite uninspired and negative. This, I believe, will quickly change though.
There wasn't great structure to the undergraduate placement. All of the undergrads started at different times and were spread across various locations. There were, however, frequent opportunities to meet up and feedback in community days. In addition to this, as an undergraduate cohort we were tasked with identifying issues and proposing a new framework for learning, development and structure for future undergraduates.
This varied based upon teams and requirements. Other undergraduates often went away on training courses etc, whereas I did not realise this was possible until later in y placement. I was, however, always permitted time to further m learning by visiting other sites and teams, speaking and meeting with senior colleagues and taking the necessary time to ask questions and find answers.

I would love to go back and work for E.ON!
The Culture
Due to the fact that most of the other placement 西瓜视频s were based in Coventry and I was in Nottingham I tended not to socialise with them. I know that many of them, however, housed together throughout the year and often socialised on evenings and weekends.
Nottingham is relatively inexpensive compared to some other cities. Opportunities for studio flats, private renting or 西瓜视频 accommodation all at affordable prices. There are also some nice restaurants, bars and days out that are inexpensive.
A good night out in Nottingham with places to suit most parties. Often went on team nights out and that was always a good laugh.
