About You
The BP discovery day was amazing it gave me the unique opportunity to visit the BP site in Lodon, talk to people who work in the company and learn more about processes and applications carried out during oil extractions. I learnt a lot from the day and met fantastic like minded Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs from all over the uk.
I received a lot of guidance and support as many people who work in the company where always ready to answer our questions through out the day. We also had a mock interview and feedback was given afterwards to all of the participants of the same group.
I learned a lot about the process behind the oil and gas process and extractions. Looking at things in person gives a better understanding of how things work. It provides a good picture. I wasn't aware of how most instruments worked but by looking at them while thinking everything made more sense.
The Company
The structure was really good we started with some breakfast at the beginning of the day which followed by some ice breaker games which I found quite fun. Afterwards some graduates talked to us their life path and what they have done to get through their degree and obtain a job at BP. Then we had a tour in the exhibition centre and finally interview and feed back with tips for the recruitment process.
The atmosphere was really friendly, everyone was excited for the day. It was nice to meet other like minded Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs as we could compare difference and similarities with in our degrees and courses. Everyone from BP was really friendly and were happy to make our experience as useful as possible, and that was really important to me.
During the day we learnt about all of the companies values and cultures which are embedded in the company. They take safety really seriously and all the employees follow the rules really strictly. In fact you need to hold the stairs handrail overtime you use the stairs. This is really good and makes you appreciate more the company.
The day was really valuable because I learned about the different jobs and roles that BP can offer. There are many opportunities that graduates received from BP and this is really important. Learning more about the oil and gas sector was also really useful and can guide me towards better life choices for the future.
Everything Else
During lunch there was time to meet the employees of the company and ask questions but also at the end of the day we were given a chance to do some further networking. The employees were also really nice and made sure we had a way to get to the hotel and were willing to provide us with transport.
Yes, while we talked to a graduate who has been on an Internship in Aberdeen, he enjoyed his free time as much as his working time. All colleagues like to go out and have fun all together in their free time. I also learned about BP equality groups and found the topic really interesting.
Of course I would recommend this experience to anyone interested in learning more about the company. It was really valuable and I am glad that I was able to take part to the event. It is helpful to gain some insights on the values of the company and therefore to understand if you are a good match and would enjoy working for them.
