The Role
It was a really integrated role with lots of opportunities throughout regarding the actual work but also social events put on by Bp for the interns.
I was given an independent project that was not specifically for an intern, it was work that would have been done by the team regardless of whether I was there or not. It shows that what you are doing is useful and needed by the company.
Constant support throughout the placement. Asking for help from anyone on your team was never a problem, they were always happy to give up there time. You were also involved in 1 to 1 mid and end of internship reviews in which you could ask any questions and bring up any issues you have.
The work was never too much. I never had to go home and stress about something to do with the internship. The work life balance was perfect. There was enough work to keep you busy but not enough to stress you out. The last week was a bit slow but that's to be expected once you've wrapped up your project.
As mentioned the project is one that the company needed doing, not something just to give the intern to fill 3 months with. At the end you provide recommendations to your team and they will trust these and use them with future work
A lot of it was more putting into practice what I had already learnt rather than learning anything new. But this in itself was very helpful! Also using industry software that we don't have available at university was a great opportunity.
The Company
Everyone was really welcoming and friendly. Nothing was ever too much. Regular cake sessions and drinks after work!
Very well organised, as soon as we arrived everything was in place
They see the internship as an opportunity for you to learn about the company as much as them to learn about you. Ideally it's almost like an '11 week interview' with the possibility of a job at the end if there are any available and you for the bill. Because of that they want to make the most of the time you're there.

The Culture
Very good. Regular events put on by the interns, we were all very similar people and had a great time together
It's london, so expensive but your pay is more than enough to cover it
In London/Clapham there's always something to do.
We participated in a day of gardening to help the local community.
