    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I attended a shadow day in BPs Canary Wharf ITS offices. The day was very good and helped me to gain a better understanding of BP and its culture

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was there for one day only so I did not experience anything other than shadowing and speaking with interns. I found that they were all happy to show me around and answer all of my questions

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was there for one day only so I did not experience anything other than shadowing and speaking with interns. I found that they were all happy to show me around and answer all of my questions

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This insight day was very useful because I was able to understand more about BP and its culture. I managed to speak with several interns in different areas in order to gain a deeper insight into the company

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The structure was very good. I met my intern at the offices and he showed me around his work area and talked me through what he was doing. We then had a chat and a tour of BP with several other interns and then went out for lunch (paid for by BP)

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Having gone to the insight day, I have found that BP has a very laid back atmosphere. From what I gathered from my intern I was following, no one was wearing suits and as long as the work got done, it didn't matter too much what time you got to work/left work

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It helped me understand more of the company but not so much with training and development because I was there for one day only. Since there was no hands on work, I was just observing and asking questions so I gained some information. BP seems like a great place to work at and I'm sure that they offer a lot for development - I think I need to go on a discovery day to get more information about it

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • From this insight day, I followed an intern around who was working with their ITS department. He showed me some of the projects that he was working on so that I could see the sort of work I would be doing if I were to work for BP at a later time

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It helped me understand more of the company as I was shadowing an intern in their offices and so I was able to see what the atmosphere was like, look at some of the projects they were working on as well as understand what sort of people are attracted to BP.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day wasn't extremely helpful because much of the work is complicated and so hard to explain it all in a few hours. But what I did experience and see was useful because I saw brief examples of different projects they work on. The work was interesting and I look forward to attending another experience day

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I would recommend this insight if you are interested in BP. The insight day is useful just to gain an understanding of what a real company looks like on the inside even if BP doesn't interset you, but if you are considering BP, then its worth attending to get more informationI would recommend this insight if you are interested in BP. • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Although I was shadowing a computer science intern, I was able to speak with interns across different areas including sales and trading interns to get a better understanding of different roles at BP. My intern also put me in touch with different people in his team and he told me that he works with BP staff in Chicago and Singapore

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Speaking with the interns I found that they all lived in the same area of London for their internship and so they became friends as they were with each other at work and then also at home. Some even lived together so I think its a good way to meet potentially future colleagues also

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I found out that there are different activties that employees could get involved with. There were posteres around the offices advertising sports games every week that employees could take part in. There are many different BP offices around so each office has different opportunities. The intern said that they would all meet up for drinks after work

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend this insight if you are interested in BP. The insight day is useful just to gain an understanding of what a real company looks like on the inside even if BP doesn't interset you, but if you are considering BP, then its worth attending to get more information
