About You
- There was an investment game which was quite useful I thought - it incorporated macro/political news which would effect our investments e.g. action by the G20, a global carbon tax. - networking with and asking current graduates questions re their time at BP, the culture of the firm, and their career path e.g. experiences at past firms etc - practice interview skills session which was incredibly useful in terms of creating a realistic situation and some great feedback from recruitment and peers
Most of the time.
There was always someone there to answer any questions you had
Greatly - developed softer skills I'd say e.g. interview skills, speaking and teamwork (investment challenge) mainly- I'd also mention gaining quite a bit of knowledge on the energy industry and BP as a company - quite useful in assisting with future internship application, to any company in any sector. We also received presentations on SJTs, pschyometric tests etc and the dos/do nots of online application - applicable to most companies.
The Company
Very well.
Quite awkward at first, but it a lot more social later as everyone got to know each other
Great extent - there were office tours and graduates/employees talked about the impact of company culture on daily work and what their jobs involved.
Hugely - graduates emphasised this in contrast to previous companies they'd worked at.
Somewhat helpful, it gave us an insight into for example how much energy prices, particularly oil, can impact BP as an organisation e.g. the time employees spend on international assignments etc - in terms of this, the insight was quite useful- learning how impactful energy prices can be.
