    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The overall experiences was enjoyable and challenging at the same time. You'll have a clearer understanding of the processes and work done as you progress on in the internship. The tasks assigned to me were quite challenging but the skills you'll learn through the summer internship are valuable, especially if you continue to ask the appropriate questions.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The people I've worked with were always ready to help and very understanding. Adequate mentoring was provided throughout the internship and all employees I've come across were really professional. Even Senior employees were happy to assist in my learning journey. Overall, they are really approachable and selfless in the time spent to coach you.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • It was a challenge in the beginning, especially when you have to understand a lot of the jargon and processes in place. However, the team that I was working in was always ready to point me in the right direction and explain the complexity of the work done or systems used. As long as you continue to ask the appropriate questions, the management would be more than happy to guide you through the processes.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I would say on average, I would have about 2 to 3 tasks to finish for the day. I was given the ownership of working out my responsibilities most of the time and reporting back to the team every morning on the work done the day before and the plan for the day ahead. I usually get off work at 6pm so the working hours are actually good. However, the amount of work really depends on the team that you've been assigned to.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There was a lot of space for independent learning. I was responsible for managing my tasks for each day and ensuring that I meet them as set out in my daily morning meetings. My team was also happy to delegate tasks to interns to complete and were more than willing to assist us when we have difficulties in working out the appropriate solutions.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt a lot through this internship, especially in the operations of the business and how my Line of Business works in tandem with other departments. From soft skills, such as ways in which we can navigate through the organisation, to hard skills such as methods to optimize the performance of a system. A lot of the skills I have learnt were technical and have helped me to understand concepts better.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally like any other office. The overall atmosphere was pretty good, people are friendly and you can strike up a conversation easily. It is also easy to navigate around the area and the space is pretty wide, so there is plenty of room to discuss certain topics or have a break in the pantry.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had a detailed calender from HR, listing all the events throughout the internship. The internship was well organised from the beginning to the end and there were reminders along the way. The events made the internship much more interesting and provided great opportunities for networking with colleagues from other lines of businesses or even senior employees within the department of work.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of resources were available upon our arrival, the greatest resource are the managers and team that were assigned. Every team member are well aware of your needs and skills and were really helpful through the internship. Other than that, the mentors and buddies that were assigned to each individual were really helpful in clarifying any technical/personal questions that one might have.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It's pretty appealing considering that you'll be able to rotate around various roles within the line of business after your 1st year on the graduate programme. This allows for greater exposure into the workings of the business area.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • Teams and colleagues do go out once in awhile, Probably an organised team event once a month or after a project has been completed. However, the fellow interns and placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs meet up at the end of each week for a drink/catch up.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is an expensive city, lunch outside of the office can cost you around 6 to 8 pounds on average. Transport is also expensive, but if you cycle to work then it shouldn't be a big factor. However, London is really accessible and there are many restaurants, pubs and activities to do around the area I work in.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are quite a few pubs around the area, so a lot of colleagues do frequent around the pub after office hours. There is also a cinema and a big shopping mall (Canada One), so there is plenty to see, do, and eat.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Definitely on weekends. London is full of events especially during the summer when there are a bunch of festivals. Some wouldn't require an entry fee, so it'll be a great place to explore over the summer if you are a Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ on a low budget.
