The Role
The learning curve is amazing. Professional environment where you get the luxury to be around the smartest people for 10 weeks, but still very approachable nice people that want to help you succeed.
They appreciated every thing you helped out with. But in the securities division it is a bit different because you do not really do work that they will use (like in IBD for example), it is more about constantly showing your skills and what you have learned by presenting or sit down with people.
Fantastic help and support through out the internship. Both from HCM, buddies, mentors and other people supporting you as well.
Busy. During the day you have to spend time with the desk and network, hence you do not have time to work on projects. This has do be done more or less at COB. So early mornings and late nights.
You do not really produce work that they will use or have roles that are facing clients etc - maybe distinctive to the securities division. But you still get a lot of work that will help you develop and give opportunity to show your skills.
Have never learned this much in my entire life under such short period of time. Cannot be compared to school, university or living abroad. You do not just develop technical skills but also how to network and pitch yourself.
The Company
Fast paced, fun and interactive.
HCM did a great job in organising the internship.
Everyone takes their time to help you succeed.
Subsidised/Company Gym
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
The goal of most interns.
The Culture
Everyone is nice and helpful.
London is expensive, but also very fun.
It's London not much to say.
Different interesting networks, I enjoyed women's networking events.
