The Role
i found i was actually given work that i felt was of use to the team and it was extremely satisfying to see the slides you worked on then appearing in a final client book that was sent to a client. I was also able to directly update clients on a weekly/daily basis which was extremely exciting
I found my colleagues to always be very appreciative of the work that i did for them and genuinely did seem grateful. They always seemed willing and eager to help me out on my questions and by the end of the programme i had made some very good friends with them all
there was a a very strong support system - we were supported by all levels of workers at GS - we were all assigned a HMC mentor who was always available to meet with us and i often met with her on a weekly basis, we were also given a buddy for was an analyst and then we had a business unit manager and a VP sponsor
Some days were quieter then others - often the worked came in ebs and flows but the majority of the time i was very busy and was working long hours
I believe i was given quite a lot of responsibility - to start with every single tiny piece of work was checked a million times before it was sent to anyone but i then became more trusted within my team and was given a lot more responsibility - i sent out 2 daily emails to different clients and 3 weekly ones to other clients
I study economics at university so the general knowledge i gained during this programme will help to support my studies and if this is a career i go into in the future then i believe the training will be invaluable - we started the programme with a full week of training and also received lots more throughout the next 9 weeks
The Company
It was a very positive attitude the people i worked with all seemed to get along well with each other and cared about each others lives outside of work as well as in. There was a huge amount of support and everyone was every friendly but also worked extremely hard
It was organised well we had lots of contact points throughout the progamme in which we had further training or had the opportunity to meet with other seniors within the bank - in ran very smoothly and being able to intern in two divisions was also extremely beneficial
We had a weeks worth of training to begin with in which we all learnt a huge amount and then had multiple sessions each week where we continued to learn on a formal basis but each day just at the desk you learn a huge amount and lots of GS colleagues were more then happy to take the time out of their days to sit down with you and talk something through

I would very much like the opportunity to work with this incredible firm if i am lucky enough to receive an offer
The Culture
All the interns got on very well and we often went for drinks together on a friday or met up at the weekend to explore London
It was pricey to rent accommodation - but that is just london for you and where i was staying was a 10/15 minute walk from the offices which was ideal and i was willing to pay for that. Its a big city and its popular with a lot of demand so you need to accept it wont be cheap
It was good - london has something to offer to everyone so of course we all had fun
we all got involved on a community teamworks day and i believe there were sports teams you could join, though i did not
