The Role
I very much enjoyed.
I felt part of the team and was integrated into it immediately I started working at my desk.
I had a manager and a buddy inside the team, however it was all the people in the team who sat with me to give one-to-one training. I had a separate 'project' sponsor and someone who managed my project and how it was going along.
The hours were ok. There was a lot of work to be done, but most of the time was spent learning, doing training, attending many great networking events, etc. Therefore an extra hour here and there never felt out of balance.
I was working on an individual project. The changes I was making was effecting our clients' work, therefore I left like the work I was doing mattered. Also, parts of the project I haven't finished will be taken over by my team members, so even unfinished stuff won't be going to waste.
It definitely prepared me for any kind of job in a large firm. I learned how to communicate with clients, team members, how and whom to ask for help. For the studying part, it taught me how to learn quickly and on the spot and where to look for help when getting stuck. Also, managing time was a great skill to learn more about.
The Company
Everyone was surprisingly friendly and usually open to help. Interns were taken seriously, as any other regular employee.
As great as I hoped for. We had time to really get into our projects, settle into work environment. A lot of support was received from all the people assigned to assist us - from our managers, to buddies and mentors, as well as recent graduates, now working here full time.
Many sessions have been organized by the HCM to introduce interns to company culture and work practices. We had training sessions, hackathon, volunteering day, video conferences, talks from senior people at the firm, many breakfast/lunch/drinks networking events as well as 'expos' where other business units were introduced.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing.
The Culture
Definitely great atmosphere between fellow interns as well as (personally) in my work team.
Cost of living in London is rather expensive, but on the other hand many opportunities to socialize and go out with colleagues, do sightseeing, etc.
Quite good.
