    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had thus far. It has been an incredibly fulfilling and enriching ten week experience for me and I have learnt so much, not only about what the job entails but also about the firm and the financial services industry in general.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very much valued by my colleagues. I was receiving ongoing positive feedback and they helped me understand the value or impact of the projects that I was involved in, In this way, I was better able to connect the dots with regards to what value I could bring to the table.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I received a great level of support not only from my direct manager, but also my fellow team members, my buddy, my mentor and more broadly, individuals across the division. I was able to receive ongoing guidance as opposed to waiting for a weekly meeting. My team members were also very open to providing feedback on any presentations I was going to give or any deliverables I had to prepare.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work flow is not always consistent which can be difficult to manage, especially during the "quieter" times. However, I felt that this is quite reflective of working life in general. Overall, I was rather busy on a daily basis as everyday is different and ad hoc tasks pop up on a daily basis, on top of the major projects I was involved in.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had the opportunity to "own" certain projects or at the very least, certain areas of projects. The level of responsibility I was given was certainly surprising to me but has certainly helped me develop both professionally and personally. It also allowed me to engage with senior leaders and other individuals in the firm/division as opposed to just executing tasks delegated by my manager.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I have developed, both in terms of soft skills (for example, adapting communication styles to different audiences) and more technical skills (for example, excel skills) have certainly stood me in good stead for my future career. I have learnt many transferable skills that will no doubt be useful in any career that I pursue in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office was very friendly and supportive. They were very much open to our questions and were open to sharing their experiences with the interns. I felt that this was consistent throughout all levels (e.g. VP, MD) and even when communicating with other divisions. The general atmosphere is of course professional but at the same time, not intimidating, as there are opportunities to socialise "on the job".

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Apart from technical errors/scheduling errors at certain points throughout the internship, it was pretty much well organised with clear points of contacts communicated, an appropriate number of intern events (on top of desk work). The weekly opportunities to catch up with the recruiter were also useful to get more information on the recruitment process, especially on the more administrative side of things (for example, how we are being assessed, conversion process).

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The general sentiment that I got was that the firm truly invests in its junior population, not only in terms of the classroom sessions we were involved in (for example, communication skills, excel training, how to receive feedback) but also the wealth of online resources that were made available to us.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Every intern was involved in Community Teamworks which gave us a day off to get involved in community involvement projects. Apart from that, there were a couple of networking events and socials that we were invited to. We were also allowed to join the internal employee network groups which held a couple of events. Other than that, there were not many activities outside of work.
