    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My time at J.P. Morgan has been a valuable experience- I learnt so much in such a short time and have really developed my skill set. I found all staff were friendly, helpful and encouraging- no matter how senior they were. The MD of my department made time to see me for one to ones to see how I was getting on and my manager was very transparent with my feedback.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by my colleagues, the projects I was set I felt added real value to the firm and I was able to implement processes I'd designed. Even though I was only at J.P. Morgan for 10 weeks, everyone made me feel welcome and a part of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I arranged to have weekly one to ones with my manager, where I could ask her any questions and gain feedback on my performance. But I was also given a lot of freedom with my projects- I had to arrange to meet with the relevant stakeholders myself. I found this really enhanced my confidence for future job opportunities.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Before starting the internship I was concerned I wouldn't have much to do as I was only going to be there for a short amount of time and therefore wouldn't be able to really contribute. But I was very busy, I attended countless networking events, had a number of shadowing sessions and overviews and was working on my three projects as well as a group project.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The projects I worked on gave me a lot of responsibility- I was able to implement two of them improving processes and also provided the team with recommendations on my final project.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The culture at J.P. Morgan is extremely hard working and focused. This will really assist me in my final year at university with my revision for exams and coursework. As for future job opportunities, I feel confident that the skills I have developed at J.P. Morgan are transferable and will contribute to my next job role.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Coming in to the organization I thought the culture would be extremely corporate and daunting, but this couldn't be further from the truth. My whole floor had a great atmosphere- my colleagues were focused with their work but were also very friendly and approachable if you needed to ask them any questions.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I have found throughout the whole recruitment process and internship everything was extremely well organized and set up. There were many networking events set up for all of the interns which we could take advantage of to talk to senior members of staff and we were also given a buddy- a graduate or apprentice who was there to offer us advice.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given extensive training throughout my whole internship including 3 days training when I first began the internship, in class training and online training. J.P. Morgan advertised that they offer a lot of training and development to their employees and they really met all of my expectations. I also noticed other full time employees who had been with the company for years were also encouraged and participated in training.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects within the organisation are extremely appealing- I am currently waiting to find out if I have been accepted onto the Graduate Scheme, which offers further training and development. J.P. Morgan also promotes mobility between roles throughout the firm and I have met many colleagues who have started in one department and ended up in another area completely different to their first role.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • I interned along with 101 other interns over the summer, so it was very social on the weekends and in the evenings. J.P. Morgan also organized 'extra curricular' activities outside of work such as sports games which all of the summer interns, graduates and apprentices could take part in. I found this a great way to mix with everyone and make friends.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I summer interned in the Bournemouth site, which is also were I attend University. The cost of living is very low compared to other areas such as London and this goes for the cost of socialising too. There is lots of different socialising activities available to do in Bournemouth, including the beach, a number restaurants, bars and clubs. It is definitely a place I would recommend living in.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As Bournemouth is a Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ town, there are a number of bars, clubs and restaurants to go to. A lot of money is being invested in Bournemouth at the moment with the new Hilton Hotel and new leisure centre, including 15 restaurants, so there is a lot to do to occupy your time and socialise with your friends.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work whilst I was at J.P. Morgan. As it was summer when I joined there was a sports event that interns, graduates and apprentices could take part in, for football, volley ball, rounders and tennis. There are also a number of communities you can join, whether its the choir or the women's institution.
