    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my time at J.P. Morgan as much as I possible could. I have had a great time here and would so badly want to come back next year as a full-time analyst. All the events, people, training and day to day work have been so fun. I would definitively say that these 10 weeks have been the best time of my life.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As I got the opportunity to work with projects which are highly important and the fact that I had the chance to work together with other offices than the London office I would say I was highly valued during this internship. All the time people have given me, both team members as well as people I have shadowed.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had great supervisors during both my rotations. I had regular feedback sessions which allowed me to really identify my strengths as well as weaknesses early and improve upon this. This support has been of huge importance to develop as much as I have during this internship. When I have wanted time to speak, learn, feedback and so on I have received the time asked for as soon as there have been time.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This has differed from day to day. But let me put it in this way, no day have been easy and relaxed. I have always had a lot to do and during some periods close to the end of the rotations I have had really much to do. As a result the time fly away during these 10 weeks.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I have had projects that have been parts of larger projects so my performance have affected these projects and hence I would say that I have been given a lot of responsibility throughout my time here. The larger projects I have conducted individually during these ten weeks will be used at the desks after my time and hence I would say I have got a large responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The technical skills I have learnt mainly in Excel and VBA may be relevant for Uni., however, these skills will absolutely be of great use during upcoming finance jobs. The technical skills in terms of products I have learnt will be important back at Uni. and in particular when I start out with my master thesis.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was relaxed but at the same time it was ambitious and developing. We have a lot of fun during the days. I would say that is was a collaborative environment in both rotations with a great team spirit. And as an intern it was easy to become a part of the teams. This had a huge effect on my overall rating of J.P. Morgan. It was also very easy to express the honest opinion and it was always respected even though people did not agree.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The programme was very well organized, with many different events of different kind. This has been one of the best points during the internship. It was well organized and the structure of the internship/programme was designed such that is was very challenging already from the beginning.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested a lot in me as I got a lot of time for development. The first week of the programme consisted of 9 hours of training each day. This was a large investment in us as we did not contribute at all to the teams but still were paid very well. Further all the events they have arranged have cost a lot and people (very senior people) have taken their time to talk to us.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • This is hard to answer all after the Brexit event. But besides this the prospects are very good as this firm is very stable and have a good reputation as well as working really hard to continue on this path. But I would choose to come back next year as a full-time analyst if I would get the opportunity to do it. With the great time I have had and all the great people I have met it would also be of interest to pursue a career within other LOBs here at J.P. Morgan.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • Yes we had many opportunities to meet other interns throughout the internship, I think we all came along very well and I make a lot of friends during this internship that I will have contact with long after the internship has ended independently of we end up at the same bank or not after this summer or if we are located in different countries.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I was employed in London the cost of living was so high. Food and socialising were not that expensive but the cost for accommodation took almost all of the salary we were given even though we had a fantastic salary, it is not much left after paying the rent. Food in canteen and gym were cheap at least.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • To be honest I have not explored the night lift here in London. But as people have told me they have all loved the night life London have offered, bot the night life during weekdays and weekends.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes we had a lot of activities we were able to participate in. As examples we hade the opportunity to participate in a football tournament which is run yearly. Other activities they arranged was BBQ and other social events, for example drinks across all different risk teams and events common for other LOBs than risk.
