The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, it was really well structured and I was made to feel very welcome. There was just the right amount of organized events such as senior speaker series, graduate program talks and panels, networking events and intern socials. I was given just the right amount of responsibility within the team I was put in and was kept busy on a day to day basis. Recruitment were very helpful with regular updates and opportunities to seek advice.
I definitely felt valued by my direct team but also the company in general. I was made to feel welcome and didn't feel any different just because I was an intern, everyone I spoke to had time for me. I felt that the work I was given over the program meant I was doing things that had an impact on the team.
My manager was very supportive in guiding me on my projects and providing feedback and updates on my progress through regular one to ones. The mid/end program reviews were well structured and included both our managers and HR to gain both aspects. Recruitment also ensured that there were opportunities to schedule one to ones with them if necessary.
I had enough to do on a day to day basis, I was busiest towards the middle of the program when most of my projects were at their peak. However, my work load was always manageable and was always achievable in reasonable working hours.
I felt that I was given a fair amount of responsibility as my projects were real life and the outcome of them had an effect on my team. However, I always received guidance on how to go about them and I always checked in with my manager before/after taking action on any of my plans. I did have to ask quite a few questions throughout, but this was less as I gained more experience.
The main thing I developed was my commercial awareness which is something that the theories in my degree can't teach you, but it is great to now know more about how the theories work in practice. I also feel like I am now more adaptable to different environments, which is always a good thing in any aspect of life. My communication skills have definitely improved as I have had to speak to colleagues of varying seniority and in different locations on a daily basis, I think I will now be more comfortable in contributing to discussions at university. I have also done presentations during my time here and this will improve my presentations that form part of my degree.
The Company
The atmosphere was mostly good, I had a friendly team but somewhat quiet compare to what I saw/heard of other intern's teams. Occasionally there were a few issues with morale in other locations due to changes to the structure of the team. But overall, everyone was very helpful to me and I never felt uncomfortable.
The internship as a whole was well organized and structured. There were regular communications to make us aware of things that were going on and things that we needed to do. We also had regular events, normally one or two a week which was nice because it broke the week up and gave us an opportunity to learn more about things outside of our direct team. These events consisted of senior speaker series, networking events, graduate program talks and analyst panels as well as intern only socials at the beginning, mid point and end. Sometimes there seemed to be a bit of a difference between the graduate recruitment talks and the information that the internship coordinators were giving us, so this often needed clarification. The mid program review was well organized and it was clear what to expect from it, it was between the interns and managers but a member of recruitment was present to give their input and ask/answer any necessary questions.
The firm invested in our training and development by providing us with fairly regular speaker/panel events to develop our understanding of the company and specific program. They also provided networking opportunities for this as well. The review sessions were also put in place to make sure we were getting enough from our internship and to receive feedback that would help us develop. In terms of formal training, I didn't have the opportunity to attend any training events but I did have a few compulsory online training courses to complete.

Company Parties/Events
Very appealing - from what I have seen of the company it seems like a great company to be a part of with lots of opportunities available. There seems to be a lot in place to make sure employees are developing and are being challenged. I am aware that the company is also quite flexible in terms of a work-life balance and there are lots of opportunities for mobility.
The Culture
Yes, on the Operations program in particular the interns were very friendly and often socialized both in work during lunch and after work also. There were a few organized social events by the company too which allowed for time to socialize with fellow colleagues. My team didn't socialize much out of work but I am aware that fellow interns did socialize out of work with their colleagues.
It was quite expensive being London but I was used to it, being a Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ in London anyway.
Yes it was good - London couldn't have much more choice for nightlife!
Yes - JPMorgan themselves organized numerous events outside of working hours for socializing and development. We also took part in a corporate responsibility day where we spent a day in the community doing various work e.g. cleaning up a park.
