The Role
All the interns on the program that I have spoken to were motivated and driven people, which was great, and made the experience better. When it comes to work, if you set your expectations low, you will enjoy it a lot, provided that you end up in a supportive team. I enjoyed the resources that were available to me, and if you are a self-starter that wants to develop, you will have the chance to do it.
It is often hard to break through the stereotype of the 'annoying' intern profile. If you have other interns on your team that might actually be one of 'those' interns, you need to work twice as hard to gain respect.
Unfortunately, where you end up and with who you end up working with is an absolute gamble. I often felt that 'support from management' was just a catchy phrase, that didn't actually mean anything for me specifically. However, number of my fellow intern colleagues felt absolute support and guidance from their managers. However, HR was approachable all times.
Some days I was relatively busy. A very important thing as an intern is to learn to make your day busy. When I had nothing scheduled for the day and all my projects were finished, I just enrolled in trainings.
As an intern you don't really get much responsibility, and you certainly won't change the world during your 10 weeks. And in fact, the whole idea of internship is not about you changing the world. If you are happy to accept that, you won't be surprised when you end up doing less important things. However, I was lucky enough to engage in a process that involved a little more responsibility for a couple of weeks.
The 10 weeks of my internship was more than the equivalent of a term at university. Information and trainings are there for you, and you need to take the initiative to reach out and get it or ask for it. The internship has greatly improved my knowledge. Beyond that you also develop transferable skills.
The Company
The general atmosphere within my department was pretty calm.
I would say it was pretty organized, however not everyone on the scheme got the same experience.
Company absolutely invests in you, and you have insane amount of resources available to you.

Future prospects are great but don't expect them to be handed to you. If you ask for it, you can get further. If you don't ask for it, you don't get it.
The Culture
Absolutely great social life among interns, especially as most of us lived in halls, within the same building. Every weekend there were organized trips, and team building activities that were organized by interns themselves. (kayaking, paintballing, cycling tour, volleyball on the beach, etc). This was mainly due to our location, and that most of us were unfamiliar with Bournemouth and the area.
It was relatively cheap to live, and rent was average. It depends where you go and what you do.
A couple of clubs are available, but personally, I didn't really participate in clubbing events.
Great sports events, volunteering, socializing, everything you wanted you could do.
