The Role
I liked my internship. I learned a lot during my time about the area I worked in. Furthermore, working with highly skilled and interesting people really inspired me. The company I worked for is great! They offer so many different opportunities for example in terms of mobility which helps everyone in this company to develop.
Everybody was treating me well. I got invited to coffees and lunches and each of my colleagues was open for questions or whatever was on my mind. It was fun working together with them. Furthermore, also colleagues from other teams were approachable.
My manager was always open to everything and organized trainings for all the interns in my team. He connected us with other teams and gave us proper reviews. He was always approachable and made clear what he expected from all of us. I felt comfortable having him as my manager.
Since my internship was during the summer period there was not much to do in general. My workload was mainly dependent on the meetings which my MD had with our clients and which had to be prepared. Especially in August where everybody either my colleagues or our clients were on vacation it was very quiet around.
It was mainly dependent on who was on vacation. When my analyst who was responsible for me was on vacation I was able to take over her responsibilities and was quite involved in everything. When she, on the other side, was in the office I mostly worked for her and therefore the responsibility was on her side.
The training I received was fantastic. It was a crash course in modelling and evaluating a firm. My skillset definitely improved also seeing it out of a long term perspective. However, regarding the tasks in my team (dcm) none of the skills learned during the training before were useful since what we do has nothing to do with financial modelling and evaluations.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was great! Nearly everybody said "good morning" in the morning and was nice to me when I needed help. The atmosphere was not competitive at all. I felt really comfortable being there.
The internship setup including interviews were really well organized! Everything worked efficiently and the company was able to create a nice atmosphere even during the interview process. We were in small groups were we were able to get to know others. Also for the welcoming at the beginning of our internships everything was organized perfectly. However, the onboarding process was a mess. I received about 50 emails before I started my intership with different tasks and login details which often did not work. This could have been structured more efficiently.
The company invested a lot in myself. By providing training in the beginning of my internship and by giving time to teach me all relevant skills J.P. did a great job! Furthermore, various networking events were organized for us to get to know either senior experiences or other potential colleagues. All software programmes were shown .
Future employment prospects within the organisation are very appealing to me. The company provides a lot of flexibility and great people to work with.
