The Role
The internship was good. The other interns were good and our direct managers were helpful for the most part. However some of the work we were doing seemed slightly like we were being sidelined into projects that weren't important. Our line managers also seemed quite unprepared for us and there were quite a few onboarding issues that lasted for longer than they should have.
Colleagues seemed not to take much notice of us overall. They were usually willing to let us shadow them and offered to help with any issues we had. Amongst other interns we all seemed very much on the same page, and often helped each other out and spent time with each other.
Our supervisors were excellent and almost always had time for us when we needed someone to take a look at our work or help us with a problem. They also gave us advice for where to improve and would send us emails with advice on things they noticed we were doing wrong. Management seemed less well prepared but seemed friendly.
We were occasionally without any work to do and there was nothing we could do about it (e.g. supervisors were busy with their own work). Other times we would have a lot on our plate, but we were never expected to work outside of normal office hours. Most days hit the sweet spot of having just enough to do without feeling too overwhelmed.
We were given plenty of responsibility within our own project - hitting deadlines, organising our own meetings etc. However the scope of the project was quite small so it felt like we didn't get much responsibility on anything that was actually important to the business.
I think the training at the start of the internship was a bit unnecessary (although some parts were definitely worthwhile, like the financial info). However once in the job the options for personal development were excellent. I made lots of use of the training opportunities and they helped me learn more about lots of different areas and will definitely help me in the future.
The Company
For the most part it was good, but there were little blips. At the start a lot of people spent a long time trying to get permissions for things and this really impacted how much work we could do. That all disappeared after a while though and since then things have been pretty smooth.
The company invested in us quite heavily. We had training all together in the first week and then we were given opportunities to go to lectures internally as well as company access to pluralsight which allowed us to learn in our own time as well as at the office for work related topics.

I think that it would be a good company to work for. I can definitely see myself working here one day - there's a good atmosphere in the office, a good culture of working together and it doesn't feel like we're just another cog in the machine. I get the feeling I would be able to improve myself whilst working here as well.
The Culture
There were plenty of opportunities to network with the other interns and we all got to know each other quite well over the course of the internship. Many of us spent time together outside of the office as well as getting lunch together quite often. I'm sure many of us will be friends for years to come.
Quite expensive as the office was in the centre of town, but if you lived in the outskirts then living was fairly cheap. Most social events were not affected too badly by how much it would cost as it might do in London. Whilst we didn't go out and do stuff every night, several nights a week is a fairly accurate ballpark.
The nightlife was pretty good but as it was summer some of the clubs were not as full as they would be when the university Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs all come back. With all of the interns we could usually get a fairly decent number of people out though, so if we wanted to go out we could still have a good time.
