The Role
I really enjoyed the whole experience! Beside the amazing time I spent within my team, what I appreciated the most is all the various networking events and speaker series, which proved really useful and added great value to the day-to-day job. In fact, they gave me the possibility to better understand my role within the whole line of business, and get useful advice from senior management.
I felt deeply valued by my team, especially by my managers/supervisors. I have been given an increasing number of tasks and responsibilities plus a very challenging project to work on. This allowed me to develop additional capabilities and gain a deeper understanding of the business. As a consequence, I feel that I had good occasions to show my abilities and commitment.
My supervisors provided me with all the support I needed. They have always been helpful and ready to answer all my questions, no matter how busy they were. All the members of my team guided me through the tasks I was assigned and they were always willing to offer their help and expertise.
I have been quite busy because I was assigned some specific tasks to perform every day plus a project that required a significant amount of time. However, I was fine with the workload that I had to handle and thus I never had to work longer hours or postpone my tasks to the next day. I never had too much spare time so I was never bored, but still I always had the possibility to take a break.
I was given a significant amount of responsibility, and this was also due to the particular nature of the job. In fact, my tasks were all about performing control over the business activity and thus they implied a certain level of responsibility. In addition to this, I was also in charge of sending a report to senior management, which is quite an important task.
During the internship I gained and improved several hard skills, such as the knowledge of Excel and the understanding of the clearing business. What I think will prove most useful in my studies and beyond is the soft skills I acquired, such as communication and public speaking, thanks to all the emails, calls, conferences, seminars and presentations I joined and held.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office has always been very friendly and relaxed. Even though people might be busy, the majority of them are always willing to take your questions and spend some time to help you out or show you what their job is about. Everyone is kind, polite and supportive, also with junior resources.
The whole experience was very well organized, with all the steps clearly identified and explained. The only bit I would improve is the time window for the some communications. For example, I discovered about my office location and team only ten days before starting the internship. However, all the other communications have been sent on time during the internship and the campus recruitment team did a really good job in organizing all the activities, schedules, and deadlines.
The initial training lasted two days and did not prove very useful to me. It was a nice occasion to get to know my fellow interns, but the contents of the training did not prepare me for the actual job. However, the on-the-job training was really valuable and definitely helped me to perform my tasks better day by day. I also had the possibility to join online courses and in class lectures to increase my knowledge of the firm.

JP Morgan is a great place to work and future employment prospects are one of the most appealing on the job market. Such a big institution offers several job opportunities that can be really different one from the other, so it is easy to find the position that best suits your attitudes and preferences. Mobility is also welcomed, both across divisions and locations.
