    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at JPMorgan. The work given to me was manageable, challenging, and ultimately satisfying.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were extremely supportive throughout the entire internship. The team gave me increased responsibility as the weeks went by, including offloading some of their BAU work. Across the bank I felt valued. Equally, senior members of staff were always willing to give me time - despite 'only being an intern'. Overall an exceptional experience of team work and a collaborative environment.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager set clear objectives for the 10 weeks, and ensured I was on track by providing me with weekly feedback sessions and also by his approachable nature.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This varied per day and per week. Some days I did not have enough work, but this was due to the nature of work on my team - we are heavily reliant on other Operational teams and so if they do not respond, we cannot progress with certain projects. At other times I had a plentiful amount!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • This increased as the weeks went on. I enjoyed the amount of responsibility placed on me. If anything this could have increased.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have massively improved my interpersonal skills, technical skills - especially with day to day programs such as excel, outlook, PowerPoint etc., - and also knowledge of the financial industry. The training courses ranged from modules detailing financial products and processes, to learning about the culture and conduct of the company. I found the courses useful for building on my prior knowledge of banking, and also for integrating into the JPMorgan working life.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly, collaborative and supportive environment. Professional, but not too high pressured. Nice pace of work. Friday's were a particular highlight, with the dress down attire and yummy food available in the office!

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organized; clear timetable of events upon arrival, and a weekly email detailing any upcoming events or deadlines. Frequent and fun socials.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Massively.

  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very much so. I would love to work for the company in the future as I believe it is a great place to work, with a strong culture and conduct, and an environment where opportunities are ripe and personal development is strongly encouraged and catered for.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • Yes. Strong sense of community amongst the interns - initiated at the training days, and this continued throughout the 10 weeks due to the constant social and networking events.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly priced.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Fun, Bournemouth is a great night out. Friday nights are big for everyone in the office and you're bound to bump into people from work - which makes Monday mornings very entertaining.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Many. Constant email invitations for sporting events, corporate responsibility events, and adhoc networking events. I participated in the rounder's tournament, volleyball tournament, and also the lunch time running club. Further, as interns we all participated in a Corporate Responsibility Day in the local area.
