The Role
It was a fantastic placement which had been very well organised. The combination of training, day to day work, team projects and socials made it a great three weeks. Most other placements are either one or two weeks. Nabarro is not afraid to be different. Having a placement for three weeks allows you the opportunity to really settle in, get to know the team, the firm and the work. Alongside day to day work in the office we had to carry out a team project which involved pitching to investors for funding in a new business venture. It was challenging but also great fun and a great way to get to know other summer scheme 西瓜视频s.
The rest of the team were brilliant in making me feel welcome and a part of the team. The partner of my department has been fantastic and so easy to get along with and have a conversation. The team were great in giving feedback on the work that I did and in involving me in tasks. I was even given the opportunity to attend two client meetings which helped me feel valued by the team.
The staff have been brilliant in giving feedback and organising appraisals throughout this week. This has allowed me the opportunity to ask questions and gain feedback for the work I have done and how it can be improved. When allocated tasks, supervisors have given immediate feedback and guidance which has been very helpful.
Over the three work period I had quite a lot of tasks to do which meant there were very few days where I was bored or had little to do. I was given a lot of taks by various people in the team. This along with the Team Project work meant that I was kept entertained throughout the scheme!
Quite a lot! I was given a task to do by myself which involved making a spreadsheet for the department with documents that were needed on a regular basis. This was a task with a lot of responsibility because I was preparing something that everyone else in the department would be using. I was also asked to draft documents and research certain issues and then give feedback, which was again a task with a lot of responsibility as my feedback to the team could impact on their advice to clients. I even prepared a research document which was sent directly to a client, so there was plenty of responsibility!
We were given very comprehensive ICT, Westlaw and Lexis Nexis training. The legal research training was brilliant and very detailed. I learnt a lot of shortcuts and functions for legal research that I didn't know about before which will come in very handy in my studies. The training on the use of the ICT systems was also beneficial in understanding how law firms keep records and organise their data and will be handy for other schemes.
The Company
Very good atmospehere. The supervisor and partner were both brillaint. Everybody gets on very well with one another and new people are made to feel at home. The team is very down to earth and easy speak to, ask questions and have a conversation with. They are not afraid to have a bit of a joke and a laugh which can be helpful when you are stressed with lots of work to do.
Fanstasticly well organised. Very detailed schedule of activities. Day to day office work, Team project, socials, training, and insights into other departments. Well spread out over the three weeks. Brilliant support, advice, feedback.
A lot of training in the first couple of days on using ICT system, phones, Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, Internal Library and so on. Felt like I was being trained up for a full time job and not a 3 week placement! Very useful training.

I think i have a good chance. The firm recieves a lot of applications and to get on the summer scheme itself is very tough as there are a lot of stages in the process which one has to get through. This means that all those on the summer scheme are very good candidates which means competition is tough. But Nabarro ensure that they get to know their candidates very well which means they will make informed decisions on who they give training contracts to.
The Culture
Yes there socials organised every week of the scheme. The variety was great. Aside from the usual drinks and meals there were some very intresting and fun social including chocholoate tasting and comedy nights. A great laugh!
Average. Decent accomodation in Sheffield as it is a very busy 西瓜视频 city. Food prices are what you would expect for this part of the Country, quite reasonable.
A 西瓜视频 city with two very big univesities...so you can imagine!
Lots of social projects that Nabarro get involved in, charity work, such as bike rides to brussels and volunteering at local organisations. There also many social and sports clubs for staff, so there is plenty to do.
